Curriculum for Understanding Universal Ethics
The Centre for Escalation of Peace is launching an initiative spanning over five years to introduce a “Curriculum for Understanding Universal Ethics” to schools across India as well as the South & Southeast Asian regions.
The core of the proposed Curriculum will be based on teachings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, particularly those put forth in his book ‘Beyond Religion: Ethics for a Whole World’. We believe this book suggests an ideal guideline for understanding Universal Ethics as therein His Holiness stresses on the importance of compassion and benevolence towards all sentient beings; principles that surpass religion, geographical location, economic status and educational background. It is this mindset that we hope to inculcate in our students and this understanding that we wish to see reflected in the educational system in our nation and the wider region.
As the first step towards this goal, the CEP is calling on educators and school teachers to help create the Curriculum during the course of a a four-day “Seminar on Universal Ethics” in Gurgaon from 3 to 6 December 2017. The Seminar is open for registration to school teachers from K-12 who are interested in contributing towards the creation of the proposed Curriculum and positively enhancing the lives of millions of students.
